Vet View: Your Records, Ready for the Appointment.

A vet visit goes better when the history is in front of the vet instead of in your head. Vet View puts the weights, medications, vaccinations, and health results you already recorded on one page, laid out for a vet to read.

Why a Vet Visit Goes Better With the Record in Hand

The questions are predictable. What is she on right now? When was the last vaccine? How has this newborn been gaining? What did we give it, and when? Without the record, the answers come from memory, text messages, and a stack of invoices:

  • •A medication history that lives across invoices and notes apps
  • •A newborn whose weigh-ins are in a notebook at home
  • •A litter check where one animal is the worry and the vet wants the rest of the litter for comparison
  • •A vet at another clinic who needs the history before the animal arrives

The more you record in BreederHQ, the more complete the report. Vet View does not ask you to build anything new for the visit. It reads what is already there.

One Report for an Animal, an Offspring, or a Litter

An Adult Animal

Open the animal's profile, go to the Health tab, and use the Vet View card. The report covers:

  • •Identification, registry numbers, and parentage with the COI percentage
  • •Allergies and adverse reactions recorded from medication doses
  • •Current medications with dose, route, frequency, and next due date, plus 12 months of medication history
  • •Supplements and how many doses were given
  • •Vaccinations with the last date, expiry, and status
  • •Health clearances you recorded, such as OFA results, and trait history over time
  • •Genetic results, with any result still awaiting your review labeled as such, never shown as final
  • •A reproductive history summary and the emergency vet

The breeding profile and breeding plans are not part of it. They describe your breeding business, not the animal's health.

One Offspring

When a newborn is at the vet, the question is how it has been doing since birth. The report shows:

  • •Birth details, identification, and a short line about the animal
  • •Birth, latest, change since birth, and lowest weight, with a growth chart and a table behind it
  • •The care log, grouped by day in your time zone
  • •Interventions, treatments and doses, health events, and vaccinations
  • •Plain flags worked out from your records, such as Below Birth Weight or Supplemental Feeding

Flags describe what was recorded. They are not a diagnosis, and your vet makes the judgment. Learn more about daily newborn records in Offspring Care.

A Whole Litter

A litter check is one visit, so it is one page. From the breeding plan, you choose the birth dam and the offspring the vet should see. The report then has:

  • •A litter overview with how many are living, how many need attention, birth weights, and a growth chart for everyone you picked
  • •A Needs Attention card for each flagged animal
  • •A page for the dam, when you include her, with her pregnancy timeline, delivery, and care after the birth
  • •A page for each offspring, with animals that died grouped separately

Anyone you leave unticked appears nowhere in the report, including in counts and doses.

How Sharing Protects Your Data

Share With Vet creates a link and a four-digit PIN. Your vet needs no account. You stay in control for as long as the link exists.

The PIN Is Shown Once

You see the link and the PIN when you create it. The PIN cannot be looked up later, so send the link and the PIN by different routes, for example the link by email and the PIN by text. If you lose the PIN, revoke the link and create a new one.

Links Expire and Can Be Revoked

A link expires 72 hours after you create it. End Session signs one vet out, End All Sessions signs out everyone, and Revoke withdraws the link so it and its PIN stop working for everyone. Your list shows each link's label, expiry, how many times it was opened, and how many sessions are live.

Sessions and PIN Attempts Are Limited

Five wrong PIN entries pause the link for a while. A vet session ends after 30 minutes of inactivity and lasts no more than 8 hours in total. Each vet session can download 5 PDFs.

Your Notes Stay Private Unless You Opt In

The notes you wrote are left out by default. Tick the notes checkbox when you create a link and your vet sees them. The choice is fixed when the link is created, and links that include notes are badged in your list.

The Report Is Always Current

A link is not a snapshot. It builds the report from your records when the vet opens it, so a change you make while the link is live shows the next time the vet loads the page. A link stops serving on its own if an animal in it was moved, archived, or deleted.

No Emailed Attachments

BreederHQ does not email health reports. An emailed file cannot be withdrawn, never expires, and can be forwarded freely. If you download a PDF and send it yourself, that copy is outside the link controls: revoking a link does not take back a file your vet already saved.

PDF, Mobile, and the Stall Card

Every Vet View has a Download PDF button, and your vet has one on the shared page. The PDF is a snapshot of the moment you create it. A litter PDF is a summary: the overview, the dam, and one page per offspring. An offspring's full record, including the care log and doses, is that offspring's own PDF.

On Your Phone

The BreederHQ mobile app has Vet View for adult animals, offspring, and litters, with Share With Vet and Download PDF. On a phone the PDF opens your share sheet, so you can save it to Files or send it with the app you choose. At the appointment, the adult animal's in-person screen lets you hand your phone to the vet: it adds labs and certificates, weight trend, and your contact details.

The Stall Card

For the barn or kennel, Download Stall Card on the Health tab prints a one-page card with the animal's name and basics, identifiers, current medications with dose and frequency, known allergies and adverse reactions, and the emergency vet contact. It never includes your private notes. If a list is too long for the card, a note says how many rows were not printed. See Medication Tracking for how those medications get recorded.

Who on Your Team Can Use It

Staff permissions control who can open a Vet View and who can share one. They are separate, so a team member may have one and not the other, and a button you cannot use is not shown.

Show Your Vet What You Recorded

Record vaccinations, medications, weights, and health results as you go, and Vet View turns them into a report your vet can read in a minute. Share it with a PIN-protected link, download a PDF, or hand over your phone.

Built for Breeders Who:

  • •Bring animals or whole litters to the vet and want the history on hand
  • •Work with a vet who is not at their own clinic and cannot sit beside them
  • •Want to share health records without handing over an emailed file that cannot be taken back
  • •Have staff who record health and need to know who can open and share it
  • •Raise offspring and want a vet to see weights and care from birth

This Might Be Overkill If:

  • •You have one or two pets and your vet keeps all the records
  • •You do not record medications, weights, or vaccinations yourself

Vet View shows what is recorded in BreederHQ. If you have never logged a weight, there is no weight section to show.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Vet View?

Vet View is a read-only health report built from the records you already keep in BreederHQ. It exists for one adult animal, one offspring, or a litter you choose. You can read it on screen, download it as a PDF, or share it with your vet through a link and PIN so they can read it in a browser with no BreederHQ account.

Does my vet need a BreederHQ account?

No. Share With Vet creates a link and a four-digit PIN. Your vet opens the link in a browser, enters the PIN, and reads the report. The page is read-only, and your vet can print it, switch between light and dark, or download a PDF.

How does sharing protect my data?

The PIN is shown once, when you create the link, and cannot be looked up later. The link expires 72 hours after you create it. Five wrong PIN entries pause the link. A session ends after 30 minutes of inactivity and never lasts more than 8 hours. You can end one vet's session, end every session, or revoke the link so it stops working for everyone. You can also see how many times each link was opened and how many sessions are live.

Can I email the report to my vet?

BreederHQ does not email health reports. An emailed file cannot be withdrawn, never expires, carries no PIN, and can be forwarded freely. If you want to send a file, download the PDF and attach it yourself, understanding that a copy you send is outside the link controls. To keep control, use Share With Vet.

Will my vet see my private notes?

Only if you choose. Your notes on offspring, and the notes on an adult animal's health test entries, are left out by default. For a link, an Include Notes checkbox is unticked by default, and the choice is fixed for the life of the link. Links that include notes carry a Notes Included badge in your list. To change the choice, revoke the link and create a new one.

What is left out of the report?

For offspring and litters, the report carries no money, no buyer or contact details, and no staff identity. For an adult animal, buyer and sale information is left out, and so are the breeding profile and breeding plans, because those describe your breeding business rather than the animal's health. A section with no records says None recorded rather than disappearing.

Can I show a vet a whole litter at once?

Yes. Open the breeding plan, choose Vet View in the Rearing tools, and tick the birth dam and the offspring the vet should see. Everyone starts ticked, including any offspring that died or were stillborn, and you untick whoever the vet does not need. A single report holds up to 200 offspring. The vet sees a litter overview, a page for the dam when you include her, and a page for each animal.

Does Vet View diagnose problems?

No. The report states what was recorded and leaves the clinical judgment to your vet. Flags such as Below Birth Weight, Low Birth Weight, or Supplemental Feeding are worked out from your records and describe the numbers. An animal with no weigh-ins shows No Weigh-Ins Yet rather than looking fine.

Does Vet View work on my phone?

Yes. The BreederHQ mobile app has Vet View for adult animals, offspring, and litters, along with Share With Vet and Download PDF. On a phone the PDF opens your share sheet, so you can save it to Files or send it with the app you choose. For an adult animal, the in-person screen is designed for handing your phone to the vet at the appointment.

Who on my team can open and share a Vet View?

Staff permissions control it. Opening a Vet View and sharing one are separate permissions, so a team member may be able to do one and not the other. A button you do not have permission for is not shown. If a button is missing, an owner or admin can tell you which permission your role has.
