Get Discovered by Serious Buyers
Quality breeders can struggle to stand out online. Volume operations dominate search results. Undocumented breeders undercut prices. Serious buyers can't easily tell the difference. The BreederHQ Marketplace changes that by putting your real program data front and center.
Why finding the right buyers is hard
Good breeders face constant challenges:
- • Generic listing sites treat responsible breeders the same as puppy mills, kitten mills, foal mills, and backyard operations
- • Your health testing investment doesn't translate to visibility
- • Buyers can't verify claims, so they don't trust anyone
- • Price shoppers waste your time with inquiries they'll never follow through
- • Your website doesn't rank against sites with bigger marketing budgets
- • Word of mouth is slow and unpredictable
Doing the right thing should give you a competitive advantage. Usually it doesn't.
How breeders try to get discovered
Personal websites
You build a website, write about your program, post photos. But SEO is competitive. Your site ranks page 10 while questionable breeders dominate page 1.
Generic listing sites
Sites like PuppyFind, NextDayPets, DreamHorse, EquineNow, breed-specific classifieds, and Craigslist. Anyone can list with no identity confirmation or registry passthrough, so your documented program sits right next to volume ads.
Social media
Facebook groups, Instagram. Good for community, but algorithms limit reach. Building an audience takes years of consistent content.
Breed club referrals
Registry referral lists. Trusted but limited reach. Most buyers don't know to look there.
Word of mouth
Happy clients refer friends. The best leads, but you can't control the volume or timing.
Where those approaches stretch thin
No easy way to prove quality
Every listing claims "health tested" and "raised with love." Buyers have no quick way to verify any of it, so they end up skeptical of everyone, including you.
Documented programs look the same as the rest
On generic listing sites, a responsible breeder's ad looks identical to a volume operation's. Sometimes worse, because volume operations invest heavily in professional photos and copy.
Price becomes the default differentiator
When buyers can't evaluate quality at a glance, they shop on price. Your fully health-tested, documented animal loses to a cheaper "no papers" listing every time.
Unqualified inquiries eat your time
Inquiries from people who want an animal tomorrow, don't want to fill out an application, or can't afford your pricing add up fast. Hours spent on leads that were never going to convert.
Reputation isn't portable
Your Facebook reviews don't show up on your website. Your OFA, PennHIP, or genetic panel results aren't visible on listing sites. Your reputation is scattered across platforms and hard to verify.
Marketing takes time you don't have
You're busy with actual breeding work. Social media management, SEO, content creation: full-time jobs on top of the full-time job you already have.

Your Storefront, Your Programs, Your Website
Listings are only one piece of marketplace presence. The breeders who get found, get trusted, and get serious inquiries are the ones who set up three things: a complete Storefront, at least one active Breeding Program, and (if they run their own website) the Embed Widget. Each one takes about 15 minutes. Together they decide whether buyers see a real business or an empty profile.
Your Storefront Is Your Shopfront
Buyers searching the BreederHQ Marketplace right now are filtering by species, breed, and program style. The breeders they find first are the ones with a complete Storefront. The breeders they trust are the ones whose pages look like a real business. If your Storefront is empty or default, you are effectively invisible to those buyers, no matter how many listings you post.
What a complete Storefront actually does:
- • Buyers can find you. Marketplace search and discovery favor breeders with complete Storefronts. An empty profile drops out of results.
- • You look like a real business. Logo, banner, bio. Three fields. They make the difference between "this is a hobby" and "this is a serious operation."
- • Every listing performs better. Boosts, featured slots, and inquiries all funnel through your Storefront. A complete page raises the ceiling on every listing you post.
- • One branded URL. Your Storefront lives at your own marketplace.breederhq.com slug. Bookmarkable, shareable, and consistent everywhere you point people.
Breeding Programs Run Your Sales While You Sleep
A Breeding Program is the operational hub for one of your lines. It holds your animals, your plans, your offspring, your listings, your waitlist, your inquiries, and your announcements in one place. More importantly, it lets you set rules that automate the work you used to do by hand every night.
What a Breeding Program automates:
- • Listings post themselves. Set a rule: when an offspring hits weaning age and meets your minimum photo count, list it. Default prices apply by sex automatically.
- • Waitlists run themselves. Open a waitlist when a plan is announced. Close it when it fills. Scope by program, by breeder, or both. All by rule, all without you in the loop.
- • "Coming Soon" gating. Offspring stay in a soft-launch state until you flip them live, so buyers see momentum before the listing opens.
- • Announcements reach everyone in one shot. Post once from the Announcements tab. It pushes to your public Storefront, to your client portal, and to the followers feed of every committed buyer. One post, three places.
- • Sales Pipeline view. Track every prospect from first inquiry through approval, across all your programs, in one dashboard.
- • Multi-breed support. Run several closely related lines under one operation without duplicating data.
Already Have Your Own Website? Stop Updating It By Hand
If you run a Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, or custom site, your "Available" page is almost certainly out of date right now. The Embed Widget fixes that for good. Copy one snippet from BreederHQ. Paste it onto your site. From that moment on, every change you make in BreederHQ shows up on your own website automatically. You never edit that page again.
What the Embed Widget does on your site:
- • One paste, then forget about it. A single HTML snippet works on any platform that lets you paste HTML. No plugin, no framework, no maintenance.
- • Pick what to show. Your full Storefront on one page, or a single program on a dedicated subpage. Toggle on Programs, Litters, Available Offspring, or Individual Animals in any combination.
- • Live data, your domain. Sell an offspring in BreederHQ, and the same minute your website updates. Open a waitlist, and it appears. Buyers landing on your site see what is actually available right now.
- • Match your site's design. Light, dark, or branded theme. Width control. The widget visually fits the page you drop it on.
- • SEO and trust stay on your domain. Buyers convert on your site. The widget never sends them away to convert somewhere else.
- • Built-in analytics. See widget impressions and engagement so you know what visitors are looking at on your own site.
Built for breeders who:
- • Invest in health testing and want it to matter
- • Document their breeding program properly
- • Want to reach buyers who value quality over price
- • Are tired of competing with volume operations on generic sites
- • Don't have time for aggressive marketing
- • Want their reputation to be visible and verifiable
- • Want to search the BreederHQ network for compatible stud services or breeding partners
This probably isn't for you if:
- • You don't do structured health testing
- • You prefer to keep your program completely private
- • Your waitlist is already full through word of mouth
The marketplace is built to highlight documented, verifiable programs. If that matches how you work, it helps you stand out. If not, BreederHQ is still here for the rest of your operation when you're ready.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from other breeder listings?
BreederHQ Marketplace is connected to actual breeding program data. Health testing results and program details on a profile are the breeder’s own attestation, backed by the records they maintain on the platform. BreederHQ does not vouch for them; Profile Indicators reflect platform account history.
How does identity and credential display work?
Profile Indicators reflect your account history on the platform: typical response time, completed transactions, open disputes. Where a public registry confirms a credential (e.g. OFA), a registry-passthrough indicator may also appear. BreederHQ does not vouch for credentials beyond what these passthroughs return.
What kinds of listings can I create?
Three types: individual animal listings (animals available for sale or adoption), offspring group listings (litters, foals, kids, lambs, kits), and program or service listings (stud services, guardian homes, trained animals, rehoming, co-ownership). You choose which types to use.
Do I have to list all my animals?
No. You control exactly which animals are visible on the marketplace. Keep your program private or make it public, and you decide for each animal individually.
How do inquiries work?
Buyer inquiries come directly to your BreederHQ dashboard. You can respond, qualify leads, and manage all communications in one place alongside your other client management.
Can I find stud services or breeding partners for my own animals?
Yes. The marketplace doubles as a cross-network search for breeders. Filter by species, breed, health test results, color genetics, COI, and location to find genetically compatible matches across the entire BreederHQ community.
What does it cost to list?
Animal listings are a one-time fee based on species, with no monthly charges and no commissions on sales. All listing fees are currently waived during our early access period.
What is a Storefront and why does it matter?
Your Storefront is your public, branded presence on the BreederHQ Marketplace. Logo, banner, bio, your active listings, and your Breeding Programs in one page at your own marketplace.breederhq.com URL. Buyers searching the marketplace find breeders with complete Storefronts first; empty profiles drop out of results. Setup takes about 15 minutes.
What does a Breeding Program do?
A Breeding Program is the operational hub for one of your lines. It holds your animals, plans, offspring, listings, waitlist, inquiries, and announcements in one place, and lets you set rules that automate listing offspring at weaning, applying default prices by sex, opening and closing waitlists, gating "Coming Soon" listings, and enforcing minimum photo counts. Announcements push to your public Storefront and to every committed buyer's client portal in one shot.
Can I show my BreederHQ programs and listings on my own website?
Yes. The Embed Widget gives you one HTML snippet that you paste onto any page of your own site (Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, custom HTML). Your site then shows your live BreederHQ data and updates automatically every time something changes in BreederHQ. You choose what to show (full Storefront or a single program), which sections appear (Programs, Litters, Available Offspring, Individual Animals), and the theme.
Do I need a Breeding Program to use the Marketplace?
No, but you should have one. You can post individual animal listings without a program. With a program, your listings, waitlist, announcements, and inquiries all live in one operational hub, and the rules engine handles repetitive work (auto-listing weaned offspring, default pricing, waitlist scoping) for you.
