What This Covers

  • Driveway breeding (one-day pen visit)
  • Walk-in service (multi-cycle stay at the buck owner's farm)
  • Short-term buck lease for breeding season
  • Registered bucks with documented pedigree
  • Stated CAE / CL / Johne's testing posture
  • Linear-appraisal and DHIR-tested dams behind the buck
  • Live-cover and natural service workflows
  • Service memo / breeding letter for registry transfer

What to Look For When Hiring

  • Health-testing posture, stated and recent. CAE, CL, and Johne's are the real concerns. Ask for dates, not vibes.
  • Biosecurity expectations on your side. Most buck owners want a recent CAE-negative or stated-posture doe before she steps off the trailer. Know what they require.
  • Documentation. A signed service memo / breeding letter is the only way ADGA / AGS / ABGA registries can record the kids correctly.
  • Genetics behind the buck. Sire stack, dam's appraisal score, dam's lactation record, full-sister and half-sister production — these are the data points that matter for dairy.
  • Refund / re-service policy. Live kid guarantees and re-service policies vary widely. Get it in writing.
