How to Browse on the Marketplace
Filters that matter for finding the right space:
- Subtype. Filter to the specific kind of space you need: agility-equipped, swim, indoor, or trail access. Yards and fields are the largest pool and the cheapest.
- Fence height and condition. Critical for fence-jumpers and high-drive dogs. Listings show fence height, type, and condition.
- Group size and capacity. Most hosts cap at 1-4 dogs from the same household. Larger groups need to filter to multi-use spaces with appropriate capacity.
- Distance. Most dog park bookings happen within 10-15 miles. Filter tight on radius; convenience drives repeat usage.
What to Look For Before You Book
- Double-gate entry. A second gate at the entrance is the difference between a safe escape-prevention setup and a one-mistake-from-disaster setup. Look for it in the photos.
- Fence condition documented. Recent photos showing the fence line, no gaps, no buried-spot issues. Hosts who don't show fence photos clearly probably have something to hide.
- Water access. Fresh water on-site is essential, especially in summer. Confirm before booking outdoor spaces in warm months.
- Hazards disclosed. Open water, toxic plants, sharp objects, or other dogs nearby should all be disclosed on the listing. If they're not mentioned, ask.
- Buffer time between bookings. 15-30 minutes between back-to-back parties is the safety standard. Confirm in the booking flow that buffer is enforced.
- Cancellation policy. Outdoor spaces are weather-dependent. A reasonable host offers flexible cancellation for weather; strict-only policies are a yellow flag for outdoor listings.
